This year, we are hosting a Mowbray COLOUR EXPLOSION school Fun Run to help fundraise for the new Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA) that will cover the basketball courts. The COLA will provide a much needed additional sheltered space for our kids to play and learn. To achieve our goal, we need to raise another $30,000 as a school community.
When is the Mowbray COLOUR EXPLOSION?
Friday 10 December, 2021 (subject to COVID-19 Restrictions).
What is the Mowbray COLOUR EXPLOSION you ask?
Kids will be sponsored to run/walk around a short course on the school oval whilst being sprayed with colour. It’s all about participation and raising money for our school which ends in a blast of colour. All registered participants will receive a pair of sunglasses and headband which they wear on the day.
Students can purchase a special edition Mowbray Colour Explosion 2021 t-shirt (available through flexischools.com.au) or bring a WHITE shirt to wear during the Fun Run. They will be covered in non-toxic, biodegradable colour powder from head to toe!
During the event, volunteers will throw vibrant colour powder in the air and it will cover the kids from head to toe. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?
The non-toxic colour powder is made of high-quality corn starch and permitted food colours (see Safety Data here), so it’s safe for skin and eyes. Students with asthma are advised to be careful in their decision to participate. Students can participate without being sprayed with colour.
Look out for a Permission form and a parent letter coming through School stream. Your child can accept donations online by creating a cyber-safe fundraising profile at Plant a Difference. Students who fundraise online raise 3x more than those who fundraise with cash! Please ensure donations are finalised before 3 December.
We are Going Green!
This year, we have chosen to reduce our impact on the environment and Go Green! For every $15 we raise, Carbon Neutral will plant one native tree or shrub in a biodiversity hotspot. This project is raising money for Australia’s biodiversity hotspot in Western Australia, as well as helping us reduce our carbon footprint. 97% of the Yarra Yarra biodiversity corridor was destroyed for farming in the early 1900s, and we seek to
Help rejuvenate the area before thousands of Australian plants and animals are lost forever.
